Workshop on the basics of strategic planning in youth centers

With the participation of 30 employees representing 11 youth organizations in the UAE, the workshop on preparing strategic plans was concluded at the Ajman Youth Center, lectures where given by the strategic advisor, Rashid Al Mutawa, Director of Strategy and Future Department at the General Authority for Sport.

Al Mutawa said that this workshop is a translation to implement the recommendations of senior leaders in the need to prepare scientific strategies for all youth centers in the United Arab Emirates in line with the high directions of political leadership to work together towards realizing the vision of the UAE 2021 and implementing the federal government strategy 2017-2021.

The Director of Strategy and Future explained that the workshop extended for two days and was characterized by explaining the scientific bases in the preparation of strategic plans and the tasks required of all strategic coordinators to ensure the implementation of the requirements of the plans.

The components of the plans were explained, a vision, a message and values through how to set scientific strategic goals for the youth and mechanisms to develop the strategic measurement indicators and identify initiatives, projects and supporting programs through annual operational plans in addition to the ways of following them up and evaluating them.

The strategic advisor explained the directions of the Council of Ministers for the fourth strategic planning cycle 2017-2021, which includes the UAE 2021 vision, the national agenda, the system of government excellence, the smart government initiative and the national strategy for innovation, which all government institutions should be guided by in developing their strategic plans.

Then the important considerations to be considered during the coming period to include the proposed initiatives and programs that focus on seven star services, government innovation, foresight, financial efficiency and focusing on results.

Al-Mutawa focused on the issue of integration and cooperation with the concerned parties in developing strategic plans for youth centers such as federal and local government agencies, private sector and society.

The workshop also discussed the new policy and methodology adopted in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of the strategic and operational plans, which were developed by the policy development team at the General Authority for Sport, which is in line with the federal government's thinking and the requirements imposed during the next stage where dialogue and brainstorming were relied on as well as the practice of practical examples and practical exercises.

Pointing out that such a move will undoubtedly contribute to meeting the aspirations of the political leaders in the country, who spare no effort in support, care and follow-up of the youth and sports fields.

He explained that the workshop came out with many recommendations most notably the emphasis on working with the idea of sound scientific institutional work and to be guided by the strategic plans of the federal government

Al Mutawa concluded by thanking HE Mr. Yousif Al-Sarkal, Chairman of the General Authority for Sport, and praised the efforts of the members of the strategic planning team and all concerned in their efforts to translate the orientations and aspirations of our federal government, noting that all our strategies are local made 100& and no outside help was sought.

With the emphasis that the doors of the Authority for Sport is open to provide all kinds of support to all youth and sports institutions in the country to reach all towards achieving the goals and visions of the federal government.
