Zayed Sports Complex A new architectural masterpiece that shines in Fujairah

Abdul Aziz Buhendi, Director of the General Authority for Sport in Fujairah, confirmed the completion of the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, “Emirates Lung” for official inauguration, since the inauguration of the first phase of the sports complex successfully. Clarifying that this important edifice will promote the sport movement in the area and will be a real radiant point for sports and clubs in the emirate, and a starting point for organizing the largest local, regional and international championships tournaments. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has directed the establishment of the complex and has been initiated under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, and under the supervision of the General Authority for Sport. The Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah is about 117 km away from Dubai and about 99 km from the Emirate of Sharjah. The foundation stone was laid on October 27, 2014 and the total land area is 178,300 square meters. The operational duration is 600 days plus 30 preparatory days. The complex has been completed in 630 days, and the stands can accommodate 2,132 spectators and 244 chairs. The complex includes a VIP lounge, lots of lounges, meetings, restaurants, guest rooms and various sports teams. He added: "The Zayed Sports Complex consists of four stages, the first is the main sports hall and the administrative building, the second stage is the Olympic swimming pool, the third stage is a 7-star hotel, and the fourth stage ends with the construction of an Olympic track where the hall allows for various games such as Handball, basketball, volleyball, all martial arts games, bodybuilding and individual games except athletics. About the Fujairah tournament for the professional Jujitsu which was organized recently in the complex recently he said: "We launched the first tournament in the complex and achieved great success and we benefited from this great tournament with some administrative and technical remarks about the readiness of the hall. In the next few days, the sixth Fujairah International championship for Taekwondo will be organized between the 16-18 of February, in addition to the Fujairah 18th International Bodybuilding Championships from 18-21 of April 2018 and the Taekwondo World Cup in December 2018 ». He added: «The benefits the complex will provide, the revitalization of the practice of collective games by hosting tournaments in basketball, volleyball, handball and individual games, martial arts, bodybuilding, billiards and snooker, and sporting events in Fujairah and surrounding cities, in addition to the establishment of training camps for national teams and clubs within the state for the availability of all elements of success ». Buhindi stressed that the sports complex will pave the way for the hosting of major international championship tournaments by the UAE because of its world-class infrastructure with international standards. He also stressed that the complex will contribute to the development of sports tourism after the Olympic pool, the hotel and the stadium will be in use, and exalt the level of practicing sport and establish for championship tournaments in the summer season. Buhindi also thanked His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, for their attention and guidance. He also thanked the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure, Abdullah Belhaif, Minister of Infrastructure Development for their effort to shape the appearance of the complex in this upscale level, and to all those who contributed to the dedication of the sports movement in the country this distinctive architectural masterpiece, which glistened in Zayed Year.
