The Authority organizes the Emirates Forum for the Sustainability of Sports Facilities next Monday

A press conference was held in the headquarters of the Authority in Dubai to announce the details of “The Emirates Forum for the Sustainability of Sports Facilities”, which will be held under the patronage and presence of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, on Monday 22nd of Jan. at 9:00 am at the headquarters of the General Authority of Sports in Dubai. . Speaking at the press conference were Ibrahim Abdul Malik Mohammed, secretary-general of the General Authority for Sport, Khalid Isa Al-Midfa, Assistant Secretary-General, and Ahmad Al-Abdouli, Director of the Sports Facilities Office. Abdul Malik praised the role of the wise leadership in supporting sport facilities and its keenness to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, taking into consideration all international standards for a sporty generation that enjoys a creative sport environment with its distinctive structure and thought, emanating from the thought of the founder of the Emirates Zayed the man. He also thanked HE Dr. Abdullah Belheif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development for his patronage of the Forum, HE Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Chairman of the General Authority for Sport, HE Thani Al-Zyudi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, and all sponsors, supporters and participants, in addition to the various media on their role and cooperation and their initiative to support the success of this forum, which is expected to be fruitful soon. Abdul Malik pointed out that the choice of the slogan "sustainability and future" for the forum came on the basis of enhancing the role of structural development in line with contemporary developments in the adoption of environmentally friendly alternatives as a key element in the establishment of the infrastructure of the modern state, which is witnessed in the state sports and other facilities in recent times. He added: "We have had to take a clear and supportive stance on the solid foundations of building and sustaining sports facilities in accordance with the highest international standards and sound professional foundations for a sustainable and friendly environment. Mr. Abdul Malik said during the conference that the Authority was keen to ensure that the forum includes individuals and institutions specialized in the sustainability of enterprises from inside and outside the country. The forum will showcase the latest experiences and best practices, which will gain our facilities strength in construction and building. For his part, Khalid Isa Al-Midfa, Assistant Secretary-General, said that the Forum, through its meetings to be held, will produce several recommendations that contribute to the achievement of national goals and promote sustainable development. The UAE and its wise leadership vision are following the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed Al- Nahyan, who put the UAE on the road to achieving sustainable development by announcing the first development plan of the country in the seventies of the last century by allocating a large part of the budget for the development of public utilities and attention to them, which resulted in significant successes at various levels. Ahmed Al Abdooli, Director of the Sports Facilities Office, said that this forum comes within the framework of the operational plan for sports facilities, which enhances the pivotal role between the General Authority for Sport and sports institutions concerned with sports facilities in the country.

Al Abdooli added that the forum comes with a wide Gulf participation which works to enhance the role of joint action among sports institutions. The theme of the Forum will focus on sustainability for the Earth and a number of innovative national experiences for future projection. Al Abdooli said that the forum is attended by HE General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Chairman of the General Authority for Sports, Dr. Abdullah Belheif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Development and Environment, and HE Thani Al Ziyudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment and a number of important personalities of specialty in the Gulf States. A short film will also be presented, reflecting a vivid experience in the sustainability of Dubai Municipality's facilities, and then honoring sponsors and participants. The first session, to be moderated by Adnan Hamad Al Hammadi, will include Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Jassim, CEO of Etihad Power Services Company, Eng. Anwar Al Shammari, Director of Design Department in the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Dr. Habiba Hassan Sultan Al Mar’ashi, CEO of Emirates Group for Environment and Dr. Eng. Bandar bin Nasser Al Saad - Consultant of Architecture and Planning in the Saudi Authority of Engineers. The second session which will be moderated by Nada Al Shaibani will be lectured by Dr. Ali Al Amoudi - Chief Environmental Engineer – in Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company, Eng. Nasser Bader Abu Al Hassan - Senior Architect Engineer in the State of Kuwait, Eng. Ali Bin Jaafar Al Lawati - Engineer, Projects Department in the Sultanate of Oman, And Moza Mohammed Al-Zeyudi, Head of Environment, Health and Safety at Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation.
