The General Authority of Sports organizes the Women's Sports Forum 2020 on the occasion of Emirati Women's Day

In cooperation with the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for Women’s Sports, in conjunction with the UAE’s celebrations of the Emirati Women's Day, which falls on 28th of August every year, the General Authority of Sports organized the “Women Sports Forum 2020”. The event witnessed the presence of Her Highness Princess Nouf bint Khalid Al Saud and prominent female sports figures from within the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The forum comes as a confirmation of the wise leadership’s keenness and support for Emirati women, to enhance and stimulate their role through confidence in them and to provide all opportunities and capabilities in order to empower them to reach the world position that they aspire to, which they are already occupying after their remarkable success due to achieving unrivaled achievements at various levels in their local, Arab, continental and international participation. The forum aims to shed light on the achievements of Emirati women in light of the UAE government's adoption of a strategy to support and empower women in all fields, the achievements they have made in various sectors, especially the sports sector in particular, and the importance of women's contributions and their active role in the efforts of development and quality of life. The forum was inaugurated by HE Dr. Mai Al-Jaber, member of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Sports, in the presence of Sheikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Women’s Sports in the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf Countries, member of the Women's Sports Committee of the International Olympic Committee, member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and the President of the Bahrain Table Tennis Federation. It also witnessed the presence of the speakers at the forum Mrs. Sana Al-Busaidi, Chairwoman of the Omani Committee for Women’s Sport, and Ms. Fatima Al-Jeraisy, a specialist of international relations at the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, member of the Women's Sports Committee within the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council, and Ms. Fatima Masoud Hayat, Chairwoman of the Women's Sports Committee at the Olympic Committee of the State of Kuwait, and a number of women sports figures. The forum discussed nine pillars, the first of which revolved around the role of the government and private sector in supporting women's sports, which was addressed by Sheikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa. Ms. Fatima Al-Jeraisy from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia addressed the second pillar related to the Emirati-Saudi cooperation in women's sports. In the third pillar, Ms. Sana Al-Busaidi from the Sultanate of Oman spoke about the role of women in supporting women's sports. With regard to the fourth pillar, Mrs. Fatima Masoud Hayat from the State of Kuwait addressed the importance and role of Gulf cooperation in supporting women’s sport. Ms. Noura Al Jasmi, member of the United Arab Emirates Cycling Federation, tackled the fifth pillar, dealing with the role of leadership in empowering Emirati women. The sixth pillar focused on the role of women in the sports media, and was tackled by the media person Asmahan al-Naqbi. The seventh pillar was handled by the Emirati media person, Iman Al Ali, who spoke about the role of social media in supporting the sport of Emirati women. In a qualitative addition to the forum, the Emirati player and trainer Rawda Al-Mansoori addressed the eighth pillar and spoke about the achievements and aspirations of the Emirati player, while in the ninth and last pillar, Fatima Al-Ali, a representative of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women's Sports Academy, spoke about the participation of Emirati women in sporting events and the transformation that they have achieved within the framework of their participation at all levels. The activities of the forum witnessed a large female presence from inside the UAE and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The great response and interaction of the attendees to the topics and pillars that were presented in the forum through the exchanges, contributed to the success of the forum and the achievement of its objective.
