The General Authority for Sport holds the first workshop to update its strategy

The Management of Strategy and Future held the first workshop to update the strategy of the General Authority for Sports for the period 2018-2021 in the presence of Ibrahim Abdul Malik Mohammed Secretary General of the General Authority for Sport and Khalid Isa Al-Midfa, Assistant Secretary General and all the directors of the departments and offices and the main strategic coordinators and assistants.

Ibrahim Abdul Malik stressed that the General Assembly, based on recent developments and the separation of the youth sector from sport, the Higher Committee and the Executive Team were formed to update the strategy for the coming period in a manner that takes into account all the changes and developments in the sport arena. This workshop comes as a real start towards a serious endeavor to develop a strategy that meets the aspirations of the political leaders towards Excellence and creativity, which do not spare any effort in providing support, care and follow-up of the sport field equal with the development and prosperity witnessed by the state in all fields, stressing the continuity in translating all government trends in providing the necessary support for the application of international standards in the dissemination of strategic thinking in all corners of the sport system.

For his part, Rashid Al Mutawa, a lecturer and director of Strategy and Future Management, said that the strategic team worked hard during the period preceding the preparation for this move, especially after the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Sport, where a specific limited time was put to achieve the goal towards updating the strategy of the general Authority which included many workshops to reach a scientific strategy to keep pace with the future.

Al-Mutawa noted that the workshop was characterized by positive interaction through the method of brainstorming through the work teams adopted by the team as a method of managing the workshop. During the workshop, the team discussed and developed the strategic directions for the next phase and then discussed all the current and future challenges expected.

The Director of Strategy and Future pointed out that the participants discussed the strategic elements of the strategic plan, its vision, mission, values and strategic objectives. All the outlines of the next phase were developed. All the outputs of the workshop are considered as part of the approved modernization plan, which will be followed by workshops with different federations and associations in addition to a number of federal and local institutions. All that from the belief of the team that the body cannot work separately from the parties, therefore it will be announced very soon the organization of a sport lab with the sports institutions and entities in the country.

Al-Mutawa also praised the support of the leadership in the General Authority giving his gratitude to His Excellency Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al-Rumaithi, Chairman of the Authority, the Secretary General and all the employees for their serious efforts to translate the orientations and aspirations of the political leadership in the country, noting that the next phase requires the concerted efforts of everyone from sport councils, Olympic committee, federations, and sport clubs to work together towards the success of this project and to make a quantum leap in the strategic sport work in the country.
