An extensive meeting that brings together the General Authority for Sports with sports federations

With the participation of a number of secretaries of sports federations, the Secretary General of the General Authority for Sports held a consultative meeting related to the high decision of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to allow categories of UAE female nationals, holders of UAE passports and UAE nationals Residents of all nationalities will participate in all the official sports competitions of the various games, in addition to the latest developments in the local sports arena and the most prominent issues related to the federations.
Said Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, Secretary General of the General Authority for Sports, welcomed the attendees at the beginning of the meeting with the federation secretaries, thanking them for their response and concrete cooperation in order to improve the development of the sports sector in the country.
Abdul Ghaffar said: After the issuance of the High Decision, GAS announced the establishment of a preliminary mechanism for this decision based on a specialized study. Today, one year after the Decision, we found that there are opportunities to develop these conditions, so this meeting came today in order to allow for consultation with the decision-makers in the federation to establish a consensus mechanism in line with the sound rules and legal systems that contribute to controlling the mechanism of registration and enrollment in various sports, which is covered by the decision.
He pointed out that the Authority has recently launched the UAE program to support and nurture sports talents and has prepared a digital sports database "Marsad" that will be announced in a press conference afterwards, and other programs prepared by the Authority, which aim to provide services and develop the sports sector in the UAE. These programs are the first in Gulf and Arab countries in terms of data and specialized aspects.
The participants also praised this meeting and the rrecent evaluation role of the GAS, which contributes to the governance of institutional work within sports federations and enhances the performance and results according to the latest international standards.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that the federations would submit draft proposals to the GAS regarding the mechanism and conditions for registering children of UAE female nationals, holders of the UAE passport, UAE national children and residents of all nationalities, in order to reach a sound unified mechanism, which will be announced later that reflects positively on the competitiveness of clubs and national teams.
