05-04-2023
The General Authority of Sports (GAS) hosted a community sports fair under the theme ‘Sports as a lifestyle’, to foster a culture of sports and introduce numerous new sports to the community. This comes in line with the governmental directives and sports sector strategies to promote and integrate sports as a way of life within the community.
H.E. Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, Secretary-General of the General Authority of Sports, and H.E. Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Authority of Sports participated in this fair, in addition to a number of leaders of sports federations.
H.E. Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum said: “The Authority is dedicated to promoting community sports as we strive to encourage more people to engage in a wide variety of sports activities. We aim to inspire communities to incorporate sports as a lifestyle and daily practice, in keeping with governmental directives to advance social health and prosperity.”
Bin Butti added: “This community sports fair demonstrates the strong cooperation between the Authority and its partners in achieving its objectives, which contributes to advancing the sports sector by fostering participation in sports in society. We look forward to continuing our cooperation with our strategic partners such as various governmental organisations, sports sector institutions, as well as the private sector, to develop the culture of sports and encourage people to make it a way of life.”
Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), UAE Table Tennis Association, UAE Chess Federation, UAE Archery Federation, UAE Sports for All Federation, UAE Badminton Federation, Emirates Esports Federation, and the UAE Karate Federation were among the eight sports federations that participated in the community sports fair. Each of these federations introduced its sports and encouraged visitors to participate in these sporting activities.
The fair also witnessed the participation of the Emirates Health Services (EHS), which introduced various health entities that outlined the most common injuries experienced by athletes and the ways to treat those. It also sheds light on the most crucial routine medical exams that assist athletes in taking appropriate precautions, as well as proper and healthy foods and beverages.
The General Authority of Sports (GAS) in cooperation with its partners, organises many community sports events and activities to introduce different sports and encourage communities to engage and adopt sports as a lifestyle.
