A press conference was held this morning at the headquarter of General Authority for Sports (GAS) in Dubai to announce the details of the 13th Sports Achievement Ceremony scheduled to be held next Tuesday 16/4/2019 at 11 pm under the patronage of HH Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, organized by GAS, the National Olympic Committee, and the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, at the Arena Hall in Abu Dhabi.
The conference was attended by Said Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, Secretary General of GAS, Abdul Mohsen Fahad Al Dosari, Assistant Secretary General for Sports Affairs, the Chairman of the Supreme Committee organizing the 13th Achievements Awards Ceremony, Khalid Issa Al-Midfa, Assistant Secretary General of GAS, Chairman of the Ceremony Committee, Khaled Hussein, Director of Sports Affairs, Ahlam Yousef, Head of Public Relations, Hassan Al Ramsi, Protocol Officer in GAS and a number of media representatives.
Said Abdul Ghaffar Hussein:
Said Abdul Ghaffar Hussain, Secretary General of the GAS, on behalf of the nation's athletes and athletes with sporting achievements, thanked the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and HH Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and to everyone who contributed to realizing these achievements, for their limitless support for the sport of the nation's youth.
He also thanked our sons and daughters who are the winners and honors of sports achievements, who put their mark by raising the Emirati flag in the most prominent international sporting forums, and thanked the media, a prominent and permanent strategic partner in supporting sports and athletes, and promoting achievements and successes.
The Secretary-General praised the great role of His Excellency Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Chairman of the GAS for his follow-up, guidance and supervision, for all the latest developments and mechanism to contribute to the success of this ceremony and show it properly. He expressed his pride and the pride of every Emirati for the achievements of the UAE national athletes in the sports sector, stressing that they are eligible for this honor.
In his speech, he said that all new sponsors and supporters of the Emirates Sports Talent Fund will be honored as the champion factory and the cradle of the future global achievements of the UAE sports and athletes.
In conclusion, he thanked the Supreme Organizing Committee, the ceremony committee and all working groups and volunteers for their efforts in making the ceremony success.
Abdul Mohsen Fahad Al Dossary:
From his side, Abdul Mohsen Fahad Al Dosari, Assistant Secretary General for Sports Affairs, announced during the press conference the sport person of the year His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahayan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, describing His Highness as an outstanding personality, known for his hard work, and constant follow-up of sports affairs in all fields, over the past period and that his commitment to the sports movement is rooted and deep, proceeding from his knowledge, know-how, vision, wisdom and good leadership, which left a clear imprint on the march of the UAE sports, which dug the finest achievements and reached the glory of platforms, through the diversity of positions that he chaired in his journey
Al Dosari stressed that His Highness Sheikh Nahyan was a witness to every touch of achievement, and a high banner in the international forums, where our sport is manifested with more pride and proud through its great achievements made by the loyal people of the country, drawing determination from the following and guidance of His Excellency, and the blessing of our wise leadership that supports sports and athletes.
Al-Dosari added that the selection of His Highness this year also recognizes the important roles played by His Highness in boosting morale, motivating, and drawing plans, towards the global sports horizons, according to the highest standards that put the country in the ranks of developed countries, which is the starting point to focus on everything related to the overall development of the individual and society, and promote the culture of community sport in a healthy environment.
He pointed out that during the ceremony, a number of persons that have had an impact on the success of the UAE sports and presented a lot will be honored, starting with those who worked in GAS, specifically Ibrahim Abdul Malik Mohammed, former Secretary General of GAS and Munther Abdullah Al-Azdi, in addition to sports commentator Ali Humaid Juma.
Khaled Issa Al Midfa:
From his side, Khalid Issa Al Midfa, Assistant Secretary General and Chairman of the ceremony committee, announced the value of this year's Presents at AED 23,326,750.00 for 515 honorees from players, coaches, administrators and referees for achieving 580 colored medals.
Al Midfa stated that this year, the committee was keen to show the ceremony in the best suit worthy of the achievements of the champions of the UAE, where the Committee held an enlightening meeting preceding the press conference with all sports federations in order to simulate reality and training on the way of honoring and mechanism to deal with the ceremony, in order to fade all obstacles and identify the opportunities for improvement that have faced ceremony in the past seasons.
The Chairman of the ceremony also mentioned that the concert will start with a short film that embodies the achievements of the sporting achievements for 2018, and then the welcoming speech of HE Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Chairman of the ceremony and then honoring the sports person of the year and a constellation of dignitaries and new supporters of the Emirates Fund for the care and support of sports talents. The sponsor of the ceremony by crowning all the associations in the honoring platforms designed for each association separately and take a memorial photo with them.
