The Board of Directors of the Authority is studying the financial support for associations and clubs

The Board of Directors of the General Authority for Sport approved the formation of field work teams to visit the clubs and sports federations benefiting from the government support of the Authority to identify the mechanisms of work in the concerned authorities and compare the size of the financial disbursement with the work performed, after reviewing the regulations concerning the financial support provided to sport federations and clubs, and the liabilities of federations and clubs for support.

This came during the second meeting of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Sport in its new formation at the headquarters of Dubai Sports Council yesterday, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi and with the attendance of the members: Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Arif Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Abdul Aziz Al Noman Secretary General of Sharjah Sports Council, Ra’ed obaid Al Zo’abi, Adnan Ali Al Zo’abi, Saeed Abdul Ghafar, Humaid Rashid Humaid Al Shamsi, Shareef Al Awadi Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Otaiba and Dr. Mai Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, in addition to Ibrahim Al-Malik, Secretary-General of the Authority, and Khalid Al-Midfa, Assistant Secretary-General.

HE Mohammed Khalfan Al-Rumaithi said that the second meeting of the Board of Directors dealt with the specific categories of the mechanism for implementing the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to allow the children of female citizens and family book holders under the procedure, in addition to the ones born in the country to participate in official sports competitions held in the state, and non-requirement of nationality of the State for their participation in the official competitions held in the country, regardless of the citizenship, pointing out that the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers will receive the mechanism and expected to be approved formally in the near future.

The Authority had established the working team on the mechanism of implementing the resolution under the chairmanship of the Secretary-General. Five models of the implementation mechanism were developed in relation to the general framework for the registration rules for players of national mothers, holders of family book under procedure, in addition to the ones born in the country, in return to leave the decisions of the mechanism of participation in stadiums and halls and the required numbers, according to the visions of the federations themselves, and in accordance with certain directives to serve the national federations. «The five models include the football federations and the consortia of the group games (hand, basket and aircraft), as well as individual games federations, and other individual game federations.

Al-Rumaithi revealed the great response to the project of «Emirates Talent Support Fund», which was presented by the Board of Directors at its first meeting with the participation of businessmen and individuals in light of the successive approvals of a number of major companies that confirmed their readiness to support the fund, which enjoys great support in coordination with the concerned sports federations, especially the individual game federations where the funds will be used to qualify champions in the best international training centers and provide the appropriate environment according to a certain mechanism and according to the numbers achieved by the players.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority had pointed out that he informed the Board of the steps of the «Sport Act» committee, which was recently formed headed by Said Abdul Ghaffar a Board member, pointing to the guidance of using legal competencies from inside and outside the country, and make a normative comparison with the best countries in the world with a view to come out with 0% errors , and the expected presenting time of the proposed law to the official authorities mid-year before applying the proposal in a formal manner by the Council of Ministers.
