Sports law experts discuss the draft law in the Sports Authority

A workshop Chaired by Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Hussain, member of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Sports, Chairman of Drafting Committee of the Sport Law, Abdul Mohsen Fahd Al Dosari, acting Secretary General, and a number of Board members; concluded its meeting today morning. The session lasted for two days. Abdul Mohsen Fahd al-Dosari, acting secretary-general of the General Authority for Sport, welcomed the audience and conveyed greetings from His Excellency General Mohammed Khalfan Al-Rumaithi, Chairman of the Authority, and his wishes of success for them in the course of the workshop. Al-Dosari said that the sports law will make a quantum leap in the sport of the UAE and will contribute to a great extent in enhancing the various aspects of sports and solving all sport issues and problems on sound bases and standards. Al Dosari praised the role of the committee and its efforts in drafting and discussing the draft law and facing all challenges in order to achieve legal provisions that comply with the law of the United Arab Emirates and support all sports in different fields and categories. For his part, Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, member of the Board of Directors in the Authority, Chairman of the drafting committee of the Sports Law, thanked the Chairman of the Authority, Major General Mohammad Khalfan Al-Rumaithi, for the trust that has been granted to him since the first board meeting and the task assigned to him to form a team to draft the sport law.

Abdul Ghaffar also thanked the General Authority for Sport and the General Secretariat of the Authority for providing all the necessary requirements, including meeting rooms and the appropriate environment to the Committee for the completion of the draft, in an atmosphere conducive to accuracy and focus. In his speech, Mr. Ghaffar touched upon the importance of this workshop, which is a brainstorming and practical study, with different perspectives and directions, in order to arrive at a draft based on sound foundations and according to precise criteria, which was developed with the participation of a constellation of judges, consultants and jurists in the fields of law and sport. He thanked the attendees for participating in and contributing to the drafting of this law, who are an integral part of it. On the work of the committee, Counselor Bader Al Hammadi, Director of the Office of Legal Affairs, said that since the decision was issued on February 20 of this year, the committee has worked diligently for three months with a total of 200 working hours, and the participation of the committee members of 15 legal experts. There were seven formal meetings of the Commission and 30 sub-meetings for the legal challenges and drafting teams. The law was compared with four countries, namely Spain, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom. The laws of sport were also reviewed in some Arab and international countries, in addition to a brain storming session for leading women in women sport, which came out with 120 legal recommendations. It is worth noting that the draft committee of the sports law is composed of Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Hussain as the Chairman, Counselor Bader Al Hammadi as a member and a rapporteur and the membership of HE Abdulaziz Al Noman Al Shamsi, HE Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, HE Mohammed Sharif Al Awadi, Judge Omar Mohammed Miran, Colonel Abdul Rahman Khalifa Al Shaer, the expert Tawfiq Al Zahrouni, Judge Dr. Abdulla Saif Al Shamsi, Expert Salim Bin Mohammed Al Saidi, Technical Expert Nasser Al Ghareeb, Dr. Mohammad Fadlallah, Dr. Naji Ismail Hamed, Counselor Saleh Al Obaidli and Counselor Norah Mohammed Al Shammari.
