The authority is implementing a community sports initiative in cooperation with Umm Al Quwain Medical District

The General Authority of Sports, in collaboration with the Umm Al-Quwain Medical District and the Irada Center for Rehabilitation and Treatment, implemented a community sports initiative, by providing modern sports equipment for use in the center’s gyms for both the male and female sections, as part of the “Sports for Life” initiative adopted by the General Authority of Sports. This initiative aims to promote the concept of community sport, especially in light of the current circumstances and in response to preventive and precautionary measures taken by the UAE in support of the efforts made to encounter the spread of the novel Corona virus “Covid 19”. These sports equipment represent the second phase in support of the "Sports for Life" initiative, which aims to promote and develop various sports across institutions with their various individuals and groups, under the name of "community sports". The Authority aims to support sports behavior and a healthy life for people of determination, the senior UAE citizens, and families with low income unable to join sports clubs or own sports equipment. In the first phase, the distribution included the Emirate of Ajman through collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development. Meanwhile, the second phase of the initiative continued to expand access points, via a team from the General Authority of Sports, where equipment is being delivered to institutions that support these categories, while adhering to all preventive and precautionary measures taken by the UAE to avoid mixing, crowding and gatherings during the delivery of the equipment to the targeted beneficiaries. On this occasion, HE Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Hussain, Secretary-General of the General Authority of Sports, said, "We are seeking happily to provide and harness everything we can for the citizens and residents of this good land, especially the UAE senior people and people of determination to emphasize and shed more light on their role in society, and to help them practice a life that guarantees a healthy and sound pattern." This initiative comes as a continuation of the endless efforts in line with the directives of our wise leadership to provide for the needs of both UAE citizens and residents, and is a testimony to our leadership's keenness to provide more community support to these groups, who are in dire need to enhance the quality and lifestyle of their lives through practicing sports. The Medical District in Umm Al-Quwain and the Irada Center for Rehabilitation and Treatment expressed their great happiness with this initiative, which comes in line with various and sustainable support efforts for members of society in light of preventive measures. The initiative also reflects the best forms of community and institutional cooperation and solidarity to provide the best services to society in a way that alleviates the repercussions of the current circumstances.
