17/10/2021

The General Authority of Sports has launched the Digital Platform for Sports Federations today, during its first-ever participation at GITEX Technology Week, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 17-21, 2021. The Digital Platform for Sports Federations supports the digital transformation of the sports sector in the UAE, using advanced technologies to generate sports-related data, including data on clubs, academies, training centres, sports bodies and the players registered with them, sports competitions and camps, achievements of sports bodies, clubs, facilities, etc. His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Chairman of the General Authority of Sports, said: “Using advanced technological solutions, data, and artificial intelligence is part of our strategy to develop the sports ecosystem. Such solutions will undoubtedly help us develop the sector’s infrastructure and obtain accurate and comprehensive data that supports our ecosystem in the sector, upholding its three strategic pillars: Governance, Partnership, and Achievement.” “The launch of the Digital Platform for Sports Federations is an important step towards the digital transformation of the sports sector, and falls in line with our ambitions to advance Emirati sports and propel it onto the world stage,” H.E. Al Falasi continued. The new platform adopts the latest global technologies to provide this important data, including big data technologies, artificial intelligence, digital signature, and other relevant and advanced tools. It includes several other smart platforms under its umbrella, namely, the Sports Consultation Platform, which provides AI-powered sports consultations without human intervention, and the Sports Data Platform (Marsad), a digital platform that aggregates all sports data in the UAE, generates data through digital links with external systems, and presents its findings in an interactive format for all beneficiaries. The Digital Messaging Platform, meanwhile, serves to promote the use of digital signatures in the sports sector in all correspondence, letters, decisions, and circulars, and finally, the Active UAE Platform contains all community sports services, such as sports facilities, personal trainers, sports events, and community sports groups. H.E. Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, Secretary-General of the General Authority of Sports, said: “The Authority is taking part in GITEX Technology Week for the very first time this year, given the event’s importance as a prominent platform for us to present our services and the smart technology we have developed, as well as to bring attention to the ground-breaking Digital Platform for Sports Federations we are delighted to be launching.” The General Authority of Sports announced the launch of a new phase for the sports sector in the UAE in late September – one that is rooted in close coordination between all strategic partners and sports federations, channelling expertise and competencies towards advancing the UAE’s presence on the global athletic map. The new phase is in line with the Authority’s vision to shape a better future for Emirati sports; it revolves around three strategic pillars: Governance, Partnership, and Achievement. Plans for the new phase were developed based on an in-depth study of the sports sector that sought to identify opportunities and challenges and set priorities. Sports licensing services provided by the General Authority of Sports are now available through the Digital Platform for Sports Federations. Users can access these services using the digital identity application UAE PASS.
