Said Abdul Ghaffar Hussain, Secretary General of the General Authority for Sports (GAS), said that the continuation of the 15th annual Zayed Charity Marathon, which will be held in Central Park in New York on 28th of this month, is an occasion dear to all of us.
He thanked the founder of the marathon, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, its proceeds are dedicated to National Kidney Foundation, which specializes in kidney disease research and treatment worldwide.
The race has a global participation and is a tribute to the founder of the United Arab Emirates, who has a great heart over the people of the UAE, Arabs and Muslims, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
"The continuation of the Zayed Charity Marathon, which comes this year in conjunction with the initiatives of the Year of Tolerance, is a small expression and as a way of returning the favor of all people of the UAE and residents of this good land, which requires the preservation of its successes, as a duty for all of us. It is holding the name of the first founder father of our beloved country, so the Zayed Charity Marathon is the responsibility of everyone, which requires work to continue the noble goal for which it is held with the emphasis on providing all the ingredients for success." he said
“The successes of the Zayed Charity Marathon are no longer confined to charitable work, but also to the message of tolerance, peace and love that the UAE holds for all the people of the world” he added
In addition to consolidating the message of the approaches and principles that emanate from the UAE, especially in the year of tolerance of its direct openness to the countries of the world, in addition to the sport and social communication embodied in the event and promote the great progress made by the UAE in various fields and promoting its leading role through the accompanying events.
Said Abdul Ghaffar praised the great efforts made by the organizing committee of the marathon headed by Lt. Gen. Eng. Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, in preparation for the event and its distinctive role in the continuation of the marathon activities and its noble humanitarian goals, wishing them success in their mission and show it as required.
