UAE receives Arkady presidential candidate "international chess"

Abdulmohsin Fahad Al-Dossary, acting Secretary General of the Sports General authority, received Arkady Dvorkovic, member of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Federation of Chess, a candidate for the presidency of the International Chess Federation, who visited the state and his entourage, on a four-hour tour, after which he left the country on his shuttle trip ahead of the elections to be held at the General Assembly of the International Federation on the sidelines of the World Olympiad currently held in the Georgian city of Batumi, on 3 October.

The reception was attended by the general Authority for Sport, advisor Dr. Sarhan Al-Ma'ini, president of the Chess Federation, Hussein Khalfan Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Federation and the Consul of Russia to the state, and a number of personalities.

Dvorkovic is considered a prominent politician in Russia and has served as deputy prime minister in Russia from 2012 until May 2018 and then assumed the chairmanship of the organizing Committee of the football World Cup, which concluded last July with great success in the capital Moscow. Al-Dossary praised the global development and spread of the game, pointing to the efforts of the Emirates Chess Federation and the International Federation in the promotion and dissemination of the game among all segments of society, stressing that it is a beloved and desirable game of all ages and categories.

Dr. Sarhan Al-Ma'ini, president of the Federation, welcomed the Russian candidate to the seat of the International Chess Federation and said: "We always welcome all the candidates in the UAE, which always has a lot of weight in the elections, especially as it embraces the headquarters of the Asian and Arab federations and every union that has a big weight In the world, besides that Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhboot Al Nahyan, President of the Asian Union and Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla President of the Arab Union, which confirms the strength of the Emirates and its influential role at the Arab, continental and international level.
