Sports Integrity: A Fundamental Pillar of Good Governance and Fair Competition
12.6.2025

Integrity is a value that is far greater than goals scored or medals earned in every game we play, every track we race on and every podium where we proudly hoist our national flag. It is the spirit that embodies the true essence of sports, further elevating competition with honour and sportsmanship. Through this belief, the Ministry of Sports has been committed towards its efforts to upholding these principles across Emirati sports. We recognise that sports is more than just a physical prowess or tactical brilliance; it is, above all, a dedication to morality and ethical behaviour.
The Ministry of Sports considers every individual in the sports field, be it athletes, coaches or administrators, as a key members of a unified team that work to foster a culture of fair play across Emirati sports. True victory is not just determined by match results, but is also measured by the unseen efforts made behind the scenes, such as transparent decisions, equal opportunities and a supportive environment where all talents can flourish without discrimination.
Due to this, our vision and strategic plans to promote sports in the country are focussed on integrity. It is the foundation of exceptional governance, further driving our sports institutions towards increased efficiency, credibility and excellence. The goal of our wise leadership's directives to establish a specialised sports governance department was not based on enforcing strict regulations, but was based on empowering all stakeholders to operate in line with the highest ethical and professional standards. We guide sports entities not only towards compliance, but also towards establishing regional and international benchmarks in integrity through transparency, accountability and adherence to best global practices.
Furthermore, we understand the significance of integrity, justice and equal opportunity as a constant journey that starts with raising awareness and results in action. Thus, we have been committed to fostering a culture of sporting integrity through workshops, awareness campaigns and robust collaborations with federations, clubs and committees. Each organisation and team are partners in this mission to lead by example in both conduct and practice.
However, integrity cannot be fully achieved unless doping is addressed. Through focused campaigns and initiatives, we are increasing our efforts to mitigate this threat in collaboration with key stakeholders. Our message is clear that we oppose any behaviour that compromises athletes' health or distorts the spirit of sports. Our fields and competitions must continue to be fair, clean and merit-based, where achievement is attained solely by talent, discipline and hard work.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Sports has been dedicated to fostering inclusive and safe sports environments that are free of misconduct, violence and discrimination. Recognising that ethics guide every decision, we envision stadiums where every athletes, officials and supporters feels protected and respected. Our national sports system is driven by a culture that encourages fair competition, transparency and a sense of collective pride, and not just a framework of a set of regulations.
In conclusion, our objectives transcend rankings and medals. We aim that Emirati sports be known for their unwavering integrity as much as its excellence. This is our path, our pledge, and our journey towards sports excellence. We move forward with confidence and resolve because genuine success can only be meaningful if it is earned honestly.
