The General Authority of Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development, has completed the "Sports for Life" initiative by distributing modern sports equipment in its second phase to 100 senior citizens. The General Authority of Sports adopts this initiative with the aim of promoting the concept of community sport, as this initiative comes in response to the needs and requirements of senior citizens. The second phase of the distribution of devices included all the emirates of the UAE through the social development centers under the Ministry of Community Development. The initiative was implemented by the efforts of a team from the General Authority of Sports, and in coordination with the Ministry of Community Development, which supervised the distribution of devices to ensure that they were delivered to those who deserve them, based on field research conducted earlier to know the needs of senior citizens. For his part, Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, Secretary-General of the General Authority of Sports, said, "The aim of the initiative is to provide a distinct and unique service for this group that needs exceptional care under these circumstances, to ensure their harmony with society, and to provide programs that suit their health needs and take into account their desires and requirements in this regard." Her Excellency Hessa Tahluk, the Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Affairs at the Ministry of Community Development expressed thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the General Authority of Sports for this initiative initiative to support senior citizens, consolidating public health, and to ensure the improvement of the quality of their lives and achieving their happiness, in line with the pillars and objectives of the national policy for senior citizens, and to fulfil the aspirations and goals of the Ministry Community Development that reflects the directives of our wise leadership to provide various forms and forms of financial and moral support to all groups and segments of society. These sports devices represent one of the stages in support of the “Sport for Life” initiative, which aims to promote and develop various sports on a community scale, according to the “Sport for Life” initiative to expand the community sports circle, in order to support and stimulate physical activity among senior citizens by providing Sports devices that motivate them and ensure that they can practice home sports, to improve their physical fitness, which will positively affect their health and psychological state. Omar Abdel-Rahman, Acting Director of Sports Affairs Department at the General Authority of Sports, stressed the importance of spreading sports culture in society through initiatives that contribute to promoting community sports in the UAE among different groups of society to reflect the directives of our wise leadership.” During the second phase of distributing sports equipment to senior citizens, the devices were delivered to the homes of those targeted by the initiative in various emirates and regions of the UAE; Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Khor Fakkan, Dibba Fujairah, Kalba, in addition to what was distributed to the beneficiaries during the first phase of the initiative last April. This initiative comes as a continuation of the continuous efforts under the directives of the wise leadership to provide the needs of citizens and residents, and to deliver to them in order to preserve their safety, and to enhance the adopted procedures. The initiative is an important step towards promoting community sport as a lifestyle to immunize the health of society, in line with the aspirations and visions of the wise leadership of the UAE. A number of beneficiaries affirmed their happiness with this initiative, which reflects the most comprehensive forms of community and institutional cooperation, coherence and solidarity, to provide the best services to the senior citizens segment, in a way that helps them achieve a healthy and more positive lifestyle.
